Our good colleague and friend Ralf left us suddenly. A week ago, he was writing to us, calling, organising meetings… and then he was gone.

Ralf was a hydrogeologist pur sang, a professional with a German precision and appearance and a friend with a warm heart from the Levant or the Balkans. Ralf made our work more pleasant and our efforts more fruitful. He was a true supporter of IGRAC as an independent, international centre: we will miss him a lot.

We are with Ralf’s family in these difficult moments.

Together with the other 'Friends of Groundwater', a network of about 30 global groundwater experts representing 20 institutions and organisations, IGRAC prepared a comprehensive paper on the qualitative state of groundwater resources globally: “Assessing groundwater quality: A global perspective. Importance, methods and potential data sources”.
